What’s Really Important?

So much is happening in the world around us. Its so easy to lose focus on what is really important. In the past few months, this happened to me, but God loves me too much to leave me there. In due season, he brought me back.

As Christian’s our first calling is to Love God and to Love others. (Matthew 22:34-40) Recorded in Matthew are the very last words of Christ to his followers. We are told to “go and make disciples” (followers of Jesus Christ). We are instructed to teach, and to baptize and reminded that we are never alone for Jesus will be with us till the end of the age. (Matthew 28:16-20) Oh how I love the promises in God’s Word! Not only is this my calling in life but this is also the main focus of this ministry. Although I’ve continued to do that, I could have done better had I not been so distracted by the things of this world.

With the COVID crisis and all the POLITICAL drama, I have spent more time over the past few months focused on the things of the world rather than the things of Christ. God brought this to my attention in a marvelous way and I am happy to say that my focus is once again on what is most important.

God promises are true and they are found in His Word. I am sure had I spent as much time meditating on his Word as I have watching the news the past few months, and worrying about things I cannot control, how much lighter my load would have been. Sometimes we don’t even realize the load we are carrying until we lay it down as was my case. There’s nothing wrong with watching the news and being informed so we can make good decisions but for me it had unintentionally become an obsession. It was taking way to much of my time and my attention and my joy. I am sure some of you are struggling with this as well.

Many of our residents have been distracted by the things of the world for a long time. They come to us filled with fear, and worry about their future, guilt over their past and without hope of a better future. Broken Hearts, Broken Homes, Broken Relationships have taken its toll on their lives. They are discouraged and without hope. Through the love and support of this ministry they are discovering their purpose in life and what’s really important. As a result they are able to lay their burdens down and enter into a new life filled with joy, hope and peace that only comes from God.

I am excited to announce that two of our residents that are currently in our program have committed their lives to Christ and submitted to the waters of baptism and one joined a local church. Another resident has re-committed her life to Christ and is going full force ahead with determination to know Christ better and impact the world for His Kingdom. Three women currently in our program have full-time jobs with benefits. All residents are employed and receiving financial counsel. A celebration was held last week for a graduate of our program, who is now residing in her own apartment. She came to us hopeless and left with hope and excitement and in awe of God’s provision for her. Shortly after we interviewed and accepted a lady to take her place. We are having no problem keeping our homes at full capacity. We want to expand as the Lord allows as we wait on His perfect timing. Meanwhile we continue to do the best we can with what we got.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers and as always we thank you for your continued spiritual and financial support. When we celebrate you celebrate for you are a partner with us. We could not do what we do without your support.
