A new year brings thoughts of new beginnings. As we review this past year, we are thankful for the many things God has done for this ministry. It’s been exciting to be part of God at work in the lives of his daughters. To watch the ladies in our program, grow in their faith and become more responsible individuals is a blessing, but it has also taken many hours of time, energy and effort and yes sometimes heartache.
Caring so very much sometimes brings heartache. Knowing how to respond in each situation that arises takes wisdom and discernment. Love is patient, and kind and not easily angered (1 Cor. 13) but love at times needs to be firm and yet gentle.
Not everyone that enters our program will be able to complete it but those that do will be changed. (Isaiah 61:3b) The Holy Spirit reminds us that “Love never fails”. That we are called to love and if a resident leaves the program before the year is up that it doesn’t mean that we’ve failed. We release them, in love, and trust that God will be faithful to complete the work that He started in them.
We have 5 ladies residing in our two Oaks houses along with two managers. We are still waiting on God to reveal the next steps for the two residents that graduate from our program in February. We are trusting that he will supply a safe, affordable place for them to live. We are looking for a low-income apartment, or a room in a private residence that they can rent or do light housekeeping, cooking, companionship in exchange for room and board. We are very happy with the progress both of these women have made. They have overcome many obstacles in their lives and want to move forward in Christ. They would like to stay in the Oxford community so the relationships that have been formed can continue to blossom and they can give back to our community.
Please contact Robin at 484-368-7268 if you have questions or if you know of any place available or anyone that may be interested in a Christian companion.
