“and she shall bring forth a son and thou shalt call His name Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins” – Matthew 1:21
While in Elementary school, I attended a “Good News Club” in the village of New London. Although I was raised by loving parents they did not take us to church nor did we read the Bible together although we did say prayers at night while being tucked in as children. When a local pastors wife decided to start a “Good News Club” in our community, I was excited to be invited. We sang songs, heard a Bible Story, and memorized scripture and we enjoyed cookies and juice as a snack which was a real treat for us. The above verse was the “first” scripture given to the children that attended the club to memorize and the only one I still remember from that time in my life. I remember how proud I was to have memorized this verse and the recognition I received having done so. This was the beginning of Discipleship Training in my life. I have never forgotten that scripture and today I understand it more fully and share it with others. The fact that the Virgin Mary gave birth to God’s son and called Him Jesus so that “whosoever believeth in Him” shall be forgiven of ALL their sins and inherit eternal life. This is the assurance of the Christian Faith and this is the message that we lovingly share with all who enter our residential program.
The Oaks Ministry is a Discipleship Training Program (Matthew 28:19-20) that supplies women in need with a Christian home as well as other related activities to help them become financially stable and responsible members of our communities. We are reminded of the verse “what good will it be for a man (or woman in our case) if they gain the whole world but forfeit their soul?” Matthew 16:26, therefore we do our part and trust that God will do what only He can do which is change hearts and lives and He does.
Having said that we could not do what we are called to do without faithful people like you who support us prayerfully and financially. If you are blessed with extra funds this holiday season, please remember The Oaks Ministry in your year-end giving. You may send your “tax exempt” donation to: The Oaks Ministry, 290 Bethel Road, Oxford, Pa. 19363.
Also, please remember us in your prayers as we continue to ask for wisdom in moving forward with expanding our ministry to provide the best program possible and as many homes as possible to help women in need.
